Driver Performance Management

Using Data to Improve Fleet Operations & Safety

Telematics-Driven Analytics for Improved Safety

Improving the performance of your drivers and vehicles is the best way to increase your bottom line and create a desirable safety culture.

Encompass makes your ELD and vehicle tracker data actionable, empowering you to improve operations and reduce risk. You can receive alerts of risky driver behaviors (ELD only), geofencing notifications, and see your vehicles' locations, speed, and engine status. Having the data at your fingertips allows you to make informed decisions that will help your company flourish.

Encompass provides:
  • Safety insights into driving behaviors like fatigued driving, speeding, tailgating, and hard-braking (ELD only)

  • Reporting and analysis of fuel consumption

  • Visibility to operational data for trip planning and communications, including geofencing, weather, and traffic

  • Automated IFTA and IRP reporting

  • Customizable driver performance management thresholds to mitigate risk and achieve company safety goals

Encompass data and analytics provide actionable insights into risks and inefficiencies. Encompass helps you understand and use your data to run a leaner operation, improve driver and employee productivity and vehicle utilization, lower insurance costs, and mitigate risk.

Hard Braking & Speeding

With the Encompass® System, you can set hard-braking thresholds according to your company's priorities. Alerts are created when the deceleration rate exceeds this threshold and includes location, date, and time of occurrence.

You can also set the parameters for the speeding threshold. When the threshold is surpassed, you are notified via alerts on the Encompass homescreen. You are able to view how long the driver was over the speed limit, the average MPH, and the date and time of the occurrence.

Idle Time & MPG

The Encompass® System tracks idle time by unit, driver, length of idle occurrence, and location. Reporting provides visibility into excessive wait times during vehicle loading and unloading. Along with the other behaviors, results are presented on the driver scorecard to help your drivers take action consistent with your company policies.

Closely linked to speeding and idle time is miles per gallon (MPG) reporting. Encompass provides reporting by driver and unit, including total miles, fuel consumed, and average MPG. Good driving behaviors maximize fuel efficiency and prevent unnecessary wear and tear on your vehicles. A driver’s skills and behaviors have the most impact on MPG.

Geofencing

The geofencing feature of Encompass lets you know when a driver enters and leaves a geofenced area. You can establish custom landmarks using an address or GPS coordinates, then create a radius or a polygonal geofence around the landmark to easily identify out-of-route miles and detours taken by drivers. Encompass reporting tracks the units, dates and times, duration, distance, and odometer inside and outside of geofences.

Mapping

Encompass mapping allows you to track drivers, proactively communicate estimated delivery times to customers, and keep shippers aware of potential delays. Information from the engine and GPS is sent to the Encompass back office in near real-time and displays the most recent data on your unit, including unit ID, vehicle engine status, location, odometer, date & time of status, driver name, and address.

FAQs

Often there are many possible routes between two points, but not all routes are equal in terms of mileage or fuel efficiency. One route from Point A to Point B may be 100 miles and another 125 miles. All other things being equal, the second route would require 25% more fuel than the first. People are creatures of habit. Drivers often believe they “know” the best way but can be mistaken. Even minor, seemingly inconsequential variances can add up – and add up quickly over time. Out-of-route reports are helpful to reduce fuel waste and productivity losses.
